Since a few friends of mine thought this was useful, I've decided to post it up on dA :'DD
Don't mind the messiness, and this may not be 100% accurate but it's how I choose my own colours.

Be daring to experiment with different bases, shades and highlights.

I don't even colour digitally, but my painting teacher always gives out to me for using too much black and white paint for shading and highlights. Looking at this I can clearly see why. They can really dull down an image.
